Matteo Boetti Opens CollAge, a Gallery-Storage in Todi
Matteo Boetti, son of Alighiero Boetti, has opened CollAge, a hybrid gallery-storage space in Todi, Italy. After 27 years and seven galleries, including Autori Messa, Autori Cambi, Studio Matteo Boetti, and Bibo's Place (with Andrea Bizzarro), Boetti shifts to a slow gallery model. CollAge, a portmanteau of Collection and Storage, is housed in his personal collection warehouse. Only 80 of 200 square meters are used for exhibitions; the rest stores works. Boetti rotates displays every three to four months, focusing on thematic curation rather than sales. The space also offers olive oil from his production, horseback riding, and his books. CollAge is located on Via del Duomo, an art district with studios and small spaces. Boetti criticizes the art fair circuit as a shopping mall and prefers a slower pace. Upcoming exhibitions include Piero Gilardi (curated by Roberto Lambarelli, opening August 29) and Mario Consiglio with Marino Ficola (December 5).
