Matteo Berra (1977–2023): Milanese Sculptor of the Sublime
Italian sculptor Matteo Berra, renowned for his large-scale creations, passed away at the age of 46 on April 26, 2023. His prominent work, "Fold," a towering 23.5-meter sculpture made of stainless steel, was unveiled in Milan in 2019 and involved 24 kilometers of welded steel rods, taking three years to complete in Zingonia. Born on October 6, 1977, in Pandino, Berra resided in Canonica d'Adda with his spouse. His funeral took place on April 28. He taught at Accademia Santa Giulia and spent four years in South Korea, where he produced significant installations. Berra's art was showcased in numerous exhibitions, and he remained active in his craft until shortly before his passing.
