Mattel launches artist UNO decks starting with Basquiat

Mattel has announced a new series of artist-themed UNO card decks, launching with a limited edition featuring works by Jean-Michel Basquiat. The deck, priced at $19.99, includes 112 cards: standard UNO cards each bearing a Basquiat artwork, plus four special puzzle cards that combine to form a larger image. This marks the first time UNO has collaborated with an artist; previous special editions were tied to entertainment franchises like Cars, SpongeBob, Harry Potter, and Barbie. The project was developed in partnership with Artestar, a US agency managing image rights for artists including Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe, Kenny Scharf, and Herb Ritts. Artestar previously facilitated Haring designs on Lacoste shirts and Basquiat motifs on Supreme jackets and Valentino garments. The Basquiat UNO deck will be sold exclusively at Macy's, both in stores and online, while supplies last.
