Matt Groening's 'Disincanto' to Premiere on Netflix in August 2018
Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons and Futurama, is launching a new adult animated fantasy series titled Disincanto on Netflix. The show consists of ten episodes and will be available globally on August 17, 2018. Produced by The ULULU Company for Netflix, Groening serves as executive producer alongside Josh Weinstein. Animation is handled by Rough Draft Studios, known for their work on Futurama. The series is set in the medieval kingdom of Dreamland and follows the misadventures of Princess Bean, a hard-drinking protagonist, along with her companions Elfo and the demon Luci. Groening stated that Disincanto will tackle themes of life and death, love and sex, and the ability to laugh in a world full of pain and idiots. The series marks Groening's first foray into fantasy animation and his first project for a streaming platform.
