Matisse Retrospective at Tate Modern, Polke Exhibition in New York, and Female Artists at Venice Biennale 2015
Right now, Tate Modern is showcasing an exhibition of Henri Matisse's cut-outs, which is co-curated by Sir Nicholas Serota. Meanwhile, New York has launched a major retrospective of Sigmar Polke, the German conceptual artist known for his trip to opium dens in Quetta, Pakistan, back in 1974. Over at Maureen Paley gallery, you can find David Salle’s artwork. Next week during Art Brussels, Juliet Jongma will highlight works by Lisa Oppenheim and Melissa Gordon, while Seher Shah will exhibit at Green Art Gallery. At the 2015 Venice Biennale, Joan Jonas will represent the U.S., with Sarah Lucas for Britain and Pamela Rosenkrantz for Switzerland. The piece also mentions Versace’s 2012 Matisse-inspired collection, Wild Lettuce Opium, and some costumes from the 1989 ballet 'Contempt' by David Salle and Jeff Koons, as well as a Dries Van Noten skirt and Laura Bates's 'Everyday Sexism'.
