Mathieu Briand's Tasmanie at MONA
Mathieu Briand's exhibition 'Tasmanie' was held at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) in Hobart, Tasmania, from September 2, 2015, to July 11, 2016. The French artist, born in Marseille, drew inspiration from his childhood fascination with the island of Château d'If, where the Count of Monte Cristo was imprisoned in Alexandre Dumas's novel. This early interest in islands shaped his artistic practice. The exhibition was reviewed in artpress issue n°430, February 2016, page 18.
