MaTerre: A Collective Immersive 360° Film for Matera 2019

A new immersive cinema-poetry project, MaTerre, was presented at the Film Commission Piemonte in Turin. Directed by Antonello Faretta, Lello Voce, and Paolo Heritier, the film is co-produced by Rete Cinema Basilicata and Fondazione Matera Basilicata 2019, co-financed by Lucana Film Commission. It will be shot during an artistic residency in Matera from April 18 to May 2, 2019, divided into five episodes filmed by pairs of directors and poets from different Mediterranean European cities. The project draws inspiration from Rocco Scotellaro's poem 'La mia bella patria' and explores themes of land, freedom, and active European citizenship. The film will be shot entirely outdoors in the Parco delle Chiese Rupestri, known for its rock-hewn churches. Public events including meetings, interviews, and performances will accompany the production. MaTerre will premiere on August 24, 2019, during the Festa della Terra in Matera, and will be distributed via 5G web, VR headsets, and an augmented reality app.
