Materia Independent Design Festival explores sacred design in Calabria

The fifth iteration of the Materia Independent Design Festival, a prominent design event in Southern Italy, took place in Catanzaro and was broadcasted live on social media. The festival, organized by Officine AD (Domenico Garofalo and Giuseppe Anania) and helmed by Antonio Aricò, centered around the theme 'Materia Sospesa,' symbolizing present-day uncertainties. A notable segment was the 'LUOGO IMMAGINARIO,' featuring contributions from Federica Sala, Guido Taroni, and Giovanni Favasuli. Key moments included the Processione della Madonna Viola and a photoshoot at the Church of San Gaetano Catanoso. International talents such as Elena Salmistraro and Sara Ricciardi showcased designs under 'Materia sospesa: il design come Rito italiano sospeso nel tempo,' alongside emerging designers like Eleonora Todde and Valentina Mancini, as well as established figures Vito Nesta and Techne Contemporary Art.
