Matera 2019: Street Art, Memory, and Peace in European Capital of Culture

Matera, which earned the title of European Capital of Culture in 2019, is gearing up for a vibrant weekend featuring street art, archival dives, and peace-themed exhibitions. Since 2015, the city has been transformed by murals from twelve talented street artists, such as Chekos, Mister Thoms, and Giorgio Bartocci. Their work will be highlighted in a showcase at Momart Gallery from December 21, 2019, to January 20, 2020. To enhance the experience, Momart has created a tourist map detailing urban art spots for Fondazione Matera 2019. Additionally, the exhibition "Scuole tra passato e futuro" at Ipogei di Piazza San Francesco D’Assisi will display student artworks from over 70 schools until December 31, 2019. Meanwhile, "L’Eco della Pace" will feature 50 prints from international artists at La Scaletta from December 22, 2019, to January 7, 2020.
