Matera 2019 partners with Turin for Cammini d'autore in Pollino Park
Matera 2019 European Capital of Culture has partnered with Turin's Fondazione Circolo dei lettori for the Cammini d'autore project, part of the larger Ka Art initiative exploring Basilicata through walking. The project was announced at Circolo dei Lettori in Turin by Ariane Bieou, Cultural Manager of Fondazione Matera Basilicata 2019, who emphasized that the year's events have been built since 2014. The initiative involves the Parco Nazionale del Pollino, one of Italy's largest parks, which has hosted land art interventions by international artists like Anish Kapoor, Carsten Höller, Claudia Losi, and Michelangelo Pistoletto since 2008 through ArtePollino. Cammini d'autore includes literary, scientific, and artistic mappings of the park. Writer Elvira Dones and illustrator Marco Cazzato have already completed a journey exploring communities in the park. Writer Antonio Pascale and astrophysicist Amedeo Balbi will create a star map of Pollino. Public presentations include an exhibition and two readings in Matera and Latronico from June 28 to July 2. Additionally, Albanian artists from Art House and Italian artists selected by Claudia Losi and Adrian Paci, with Francesco Pedrini, will participate in a residency to redefine representation through walking in Arbëreshë communities. The resulting works will remain in the territory, with presentations in Italy at end of September and in Albania in December at Art House with Adrian Paci.
