Matera 2019: Joint Program with Plovdiv, Festival of Narrating Cities, and Night Walk in the Sassi

Matera European Capital of Culture 2019 continues with a weekend of events from October 25-27, 2019. A joint program with Plovdiv (Bulgaria), the other 2019 European Capital of Culture, includes three initiatives: the photographic exhibition 'Delle lettere tra Plovdiv e Matera' on the Cyrillic alphabet at Biblioteca T. Stigliani until October 31; the Mestiere Cinema Festival dedicated to Bulgarian cinema and film music composition at Casa Cava, Cinema Piccolo, and Palestra Area8 until October 27; and the Fusion Urban Games Festival from October 31 to November 2 in Matera and November 8-11 in Plovdiv. The 'Numero Zero' of the Festival delle Città Narranti takes place October 25-26 at Villa Nitti in Acquafredda di Maratea, promoted by Fondazione Nitti di Melfi and Fondazione Matera Basilicata 2019, with support from Università IULM di Milano and Università della Basilicata. The festival focuses on how cities narrate their symbolic heritage. A community night walk 'Di notte nei Sassi' on October 26 from 19:00 to 22:30 in Piazza San Giovanni, Matera, invites 219 citizens and temporary residents to explore the Sassi districts with LED-lit sticks.
