Matera 2019: Installation, Bread Festival, and Banner Recycling
Studio Formafantasma, the Italian design duo based in Amsterdam, presents an installation at Cava Paradiso in Matera as part of the I-DEA project for Matera European Capital of Culture 2019. The installation includes five projections, ten digital screens, and a selection of vernacular objects from local archives, challenging the concept of archives and information preservation. The exhibition opens on June 8, 2019, and runs until September 15, 2019. Additionally, the Breadway festival takes place from June 7 to 9, 2019, at Mulino Alvino, celebrating food and design through performances, workshops, and an exhibition curated by ADI and IED Barcelona. The Open Design School, led by Joseph Grima with project management by Rita Orlando, hosts a workshop on June 8, 2019, at Casino Padula, recycling old banners from Matera 2019 into custom bags to reduce plastic waste.
