Matera 2019 Education Program Engages Italian Schools
The Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) signed an agreement with the Fondazione Matera Basilicata 2019 to involve schools in initiatives of the European Capital of Culture. The project "Dalle scuole per le scuole" creates cultural itineraries around five themes: archaeology and classical civilization, nature and sport, technology and science, food and wine and territorial economy, history and literature. Schools in Basilicata designed 23 itineraries for schools elsewhere in Italy. The education sector also launched Blogsters2019, a program of short videos on YouTube produced by students. Categories include Percorsi, Storie, Future digs, and Fatti. A survey titled "Qual è la tua idea di #openfuture" targets adolescents, and the series "Chiacchiere d'oltreconfine" features interviews with Vinicio Capossela, Paolo Giordano, Eraldo Affinati, and Gué Pequeno.
