Matchaful's Ritual Bar in Brooklyn Offers Zen Tea Experiences

Matchaful, a matcha brand with multiple locations in New York, has expanded its Williamsburg café in Brooklyn with a new Ritual Bar designed by Now or Never (NoN) Studio. The space, carved from an apartment building, offers guided tastings, matcha whisking ceremonies, and educational experiences about Japanese tea. Founder Hannah Habes noted that most people never learn the stories behind their drinks or traditional preparation methods, and the Ritual Bar aims to bring those stories to life. The interior features paper pendant lights by Troy Lighting, textured limewash walls, natural maple and oak wood, custom bar stools, floating shelves with ceramics by local artisans, and a counter made of Cipollino Verde marble. The café also includes a larger outdoor patio and a matcha grinder room, where visitors can observe traditional stone grinding through glass, set to open later this year.
