MAST Foundation Photography Grant Exhibition Opens in Bologna
The fifth MAST Foundation for Photography Grant on Industry and Work has recognized four artists: Sohei Nishino, Sara Cwynar, Mari Bastashevski, and Cristóbal Olivares, chosen from a pool of 35 applicants. Their works are currently showcased at the PhotoGallery of Fondazione MAST in Bologna, under the curation of Urs Stahel. Nishino and Cwynar were awarded the top honor; Nishino's project highlights the Po River, drawing inspiration from Edo-period cartographer Ino Tadataka. Cwynar, born in Vancouver in 1985, investigates color perception in cosmetics through her collages and the video "La fabbrica del colore." Meanwhile, Bastashevski focuses on the Flint water crisis, and Olivares, born in Chile in 1988, portrays migration in "Il deserto," emphasizing Dominicans entering Chile illegally.
