Massimo Uberti's Neon Installation 'Lost' on Milan's Martesana Canal

exhibition · 2026-04-27

A new public art project titled #lostandfound has been installed at the intersection of Villa Singer and the Naviglio Martesana in Milan. The work consists of two pieces by Brescia-born artist Massimo Uberti (b. 1966): an external neon sign reading 'Lost' and a golden stone hidden in Villa Singer's garden. The project was initiated by antiquarian Marco Arosio, director of Cambi Casa D'Aste, who invited gallerist Rossana Ciocca to rethink the open-air spaces of the family villa, originally built by her great-grandfather Arturo Monti for his painter daughter. Ciocca describes the project as exploring the relationship between interior and exterior, self and other. The neon is visible to the public from the villa's wall until the end of summer, while the golden stone invites viewers to search for it in their inner landscape. The project has garnered strong engagement on Instagram, using the hashtag Naviglio Martesana.
