Massimo Uberti's Christmas tree installation at Milan's Fiera hospital

artist · 2026-04-27

Artist Massimo Uberti (born 1966 in Brescia) created a Christmas installation in front of the Ospedale Fiera Milano in Milan, funded by Fondazione Fiera Milano. A 7-meter-tall red spruce is placed at gate 6 entrance between viale Scarampo and via Teodorico. It is decorated with 300 mirror-finished alphabet letters and topped by a star inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's perpetual motion drawings. The work is titled "E ogni cosa è connessa con tutte le altre" (And everything is connected to everything else), a Leonardo quote. The installation honors the city and healthcare workers fighting COVID-19, while urging respect for oneself, others, and the planet. Enrico Pazzali, President of Fondazione Fiera Milano, described it as a thank-you to those helping the needy. By day, the letters reflect natural light; at night, the neon quote glows. The tree will remain until January 7, 2021, then return to a nursery in Brescia for replanting.
