Massimo Popolizio stars in 'Furore' at the Teatro di Roma, a theatrical adaptation of John Steinbeck's novel, which he also directs, accompanied by live music from Giovanni Lo Cascio. The 75-minute performance features a dirt stage, a typewriter, and various documents. Emanuele Trevi (Premio Strega) crafted the adaptation, while Igor Renzetti and Lorenzo Bruno contributed videos, and original photographs by Dorothea Lange and Walker Evans were included. Set against the backdrop of the 1936 Great Depression, the story depicts farmers migrating from Oklahoma and Arkansas to California, transitioning from sharecropping to capitalism. Popolizio uses varied vocal styles to bring to life the characters and their emotions. He will return to the Teatro Argentina with Arthur Miller's 'Uno sguardo dal ponte' from March 14 to April 2, 2023.
