Massimo Giacon's 'Contemporary Comics Mix' at Mondadori Megastore in Milan

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Massimo Giacon, a 56-year-old Paduan artist based in Milan, presents 'Contemporary Comics Mix' at the Mondadori Megastore's Spazio Eventi in Piazza Duomo, Milan. The exhibition, subtitled 'Il sonno della ragione genera comics', is part of the 'st.art l’arte per tutti' cycle dedicated to Pop Art, curated by Angelo Crespi and produced in partnership with Deodato Arte. Giacon reinterprets American comic icons (Superman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Spiderman, Catwoman) and Japanese characters (Astroboy, Lupin III, Lamù) through a process he calls 'ricampionatura' (re-sampling), deforming and reinventing them with his signature ironic style. The opening featured a large audience including illustrators Squaz, Conc, Annalaura Cantone, Cinzia&Valentina, Elena Terrin, Piero Tonin, animator/musician Fabio Bozzetto, artists Pao and Giuseppe Veneziano, critics Emanuele Beluffi and Ivan Quaroni, screenwriter Riccardo Secchi, gallerist Eduardo Simone, and Giorgio Gorla. Giacon performed a mini-performance titled 'L’ultimo tabù', where he smoked a cigarette on stage masked as a clown, eliciting laughter. Giacon's work spans painting, sculpture, performance, and design, with notable collaborations with Alessi producing objects like the pencil holder 'Sebastiano', soap dispenser 'Mr. Cold', and bathtub plug 'Mr. Sucide'.
