Massimo Bartolini's Sonic Intervention at CSAC Parma
For Parma Italian Capital of Culture 2020, the Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione (CSAC) hosts Massimo Bartolini, Luca Vitone, and Eva Marisaldi in 'Through time: integrità e trasformazione dell’opera'. Bartolini (born 1962 in Cecina) transforms the Abbey of Valserena church with sound, centering on Luigi Ghirri's 1979 series 'Identikit'—portraits of the photographer's vinyl records. Bartolini retrieves all 33 rpm records and places them near Luciano Fabro's sculpture 'Lo Spirato', creating intimate correspondences. The project explores empathic relationships between space, audience, and archival masters, using sound to revive the sublime venue.
