Massimiliano Finazzer Flory's 'Essere Leonardo da Vinci' Film in Production

Italian actor and director Massimiliano Finazzer Flory is currently filming 'Essere Leonardo da Vinci', a biographical film about Leonardo da Vinci. The project originated from a 2012 theatrical play, 'Essere Leonardo da Vinci: un’intervista impossibile', which premiered in London during the National Gallery exhibition 'Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan'. The film, shot in Red 4K, began production in New York and will continue in Vinci, Tuscany, and Milan in September, followed by locations in the Loire Valley, France, including the Château d'Amboise and Clos Lucé. Finazzer Flory wrote the script and stars as Leonardo. Research drew on the work of art historians Carlo Pedretti and Pietro Marani, physicist Fritjof Capra, and the late Leonard Shlain. The production is a joint venture with a young American production company and partners with French institutions including BNP Paribas. The cast includes choreographer Michela Lucenti for dance and composers Julia Kent and Jeffrey Swann.
