Massimiliano Finazzer Flory's Dante Film Uses Dance and Drones for 700th Anniversary
Massimiliano Finazzer Flory (Monfalcone, 1964) has completed his short film 'Dante, per nostra fortuna' for the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri's death. The film reinterprets the Divine Comedy through contemporary dance choreographed by Michela Lucenti, using drone shots to evoke the Inferno's chasm. Filmed at the Teatro degli Impavidi in Sarzana, it employs black-and-white for Inferno, amber for Purgatory, and iridescence for Paradise, with digitalized Gustave Doré engravings projected onto dancers. Finazzer Flory describes Dante as a contemporary figure addressing distance and separation during the pandemic. The film, supported by Lottomatica Holding, will become the set for a theatrical reading from March 22-28, 2021, in the Mantua province for Dantedì.
