Masbedo's Videomobile Travels from Palermo to ICA Milan
The Italian video art duo Masbedo (Nicolò Massazza and Iacopo Bedogni) will present their ongoing project Videomobile at ICA Milan from October 12 to November 10, 2019, in the exhibition 'Perché le frontiere cambiano' curated by Alberto Salvadori. Videomobile originated for Manifesta 12 in Palermo in 2018, where the duo converted a 1970s OM cargo van into a mobile stage, production studio, and multi-channel installation. The project explores experimental Sicilian cinema through videos created during their travels across the island. New videos to be presented in Milan feature Vittoria Alliata (daughter of Panaria Film founder Francesco Alliata), Palermo mayor Leoluca Orlando, and the Tamil community of Palermo. One video reinterprets the famous ballroom scene from Luchino Visconti's 'Il Gattopardo' at Palazzo Gangi, with the Tamil community performing their sacred dance. The duo also appeals to Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini to approve the donation of their Manifesta 12 installation 'Protocol no. 90/6' to the State Archives of Palermo.
