Masbedo's video trilogy Romans Roman debuts at Carlo Cracco's Milan restaurant

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The artistic duo Masbedo, composed of Nicolò Massazza (born 1973) and Iacopo Bedogni (born 1970), have created a site-specific video installation titled Romans Roman (Hommage à Roman Signer) for the second edition of Galleria Cracco By Sky Arte. This contemporary art project, conceived by chef Carlo Cracco with communication agency Paridevitale and satellite channel Sky Arte, invites Italian artists to produce works for the lunettes above the windows of Cracco's restaurant in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan. Patrick Tuttofuoco inaugurated the format last spring. The new installation is a triptych of three videos, each placed in one lunette, depicting two women and a man seated around a set table, suspended in tension and unease. The erotic and magnetic charge builds to an unexpected climax with fireworks. The video explores the ambiguity of seduction and desire, featuring actors Federica Fracassi, Emanuela Villagrossi, and Maziar Firouzi. The table is a recurring motif in Masbedo's work, previously seen in Teorema d'Incompletezza (2008) and Ionesco Suite (2013). In this piece, the table becomes a central figure through which uncontrollable impulses manifest. The installation is viewable 24/7 free of charge until March 2019.
