Masbedo's Handle with Care Explores Art Restoration in Two Acts

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Italian artistic duo Masbedo, consisting of Nicolò Massazza (born 1973) and Iacopo Bedogni (born 1970), unveils 'Handle with Care,' a multi-channel video installation shot at Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence and Centro Conservazione e Restauro in Venaria. This project showcases the detailed efforts of conservators on artworks, delving into themes of materiality and time. The exhibition unfolds in two parts: first at Palazzo Vecchio, Florence (October 22–24, 2016) as part of Estate Fiorentina 2016, followed by Reggia di Venaria (October 29, 2016 – January 15, 2017), where the primary installation resides in the Citroniera. It features live performances, lectures, and works such as 'Cose' (2012) and '30 Luglio 2007' (2016). Curated by Paola Nicolin, the initiative receives backing from In Between Art Film and MiBACT.
