Masbedo's 'Fragile' Video Installed at Galleria Sabauda in Turin
The Masbedo duo has created a site-specific video installation titled 'Fragile' for the Galleria Sabauda in Turin, marking the first time the museum has hosted contemporary art. The work, curated by Domenico Maria Papa and Annamaria Bava, features a young man carrying an old peacock through the museum's halls, symbolizing the fragility of art and the artist. Commissioned by the Segretariato regionale per il Piemonte del Ministero della Cultura under the Piano per l'arte contemporanea, 'Fragile' will become part of the Galleria Sabauda's collection. Students from the Accademia Albertina di Torino assisted in production. The video references masterpieces by Bronzino, Mantegna, Van Eyck, Rembrandt, Pollaiolo, and Botticelli, exploring themes of beauty, transience, and preservation. The installation runs from May 27 to July 10 at the Musei Reali – Galleria Sabauda.
