Masbedo's Dual Intervention at Manifesta 12 in Palermo

At Manifesta 12 in Palermo, the artist duo Masbedo (Nicolò Massazza, b. 1973, and Iacopo Bedogni, b. 1970) created two distinct installations that garnered widespread acclaim. In the Sala delle Capriate of the State Archives of Palermo, they installed 'Protocol no. 90/6', a video installation featuring a puppet by Mimmo Cuticchio, inspired by filmmaker Vittorio de Seta's surveillance by authorities in 1956. The second intervention, 'Videomobile 2018', is a customized 1970s OM truck serving as a mobile multi-channel installation and performance space. It includes tributes to Pier Paolo Pasolini's 'Comizi d'amore', a remix of De Seta's footage by musician Angelo Sicurella, a monologue by photographer Letizia Battaglia on the Mafia, and a looped projection of Francesco Rosi's 'Salvatore Giuliano'. The truck traveled to various city locations, including Piazza Magione and the Orto Botanico. Future events include a July screening of Mario Baffico's 'Terra di Nessuno' and a finissage project.
