Dastaangoi Gallery presents 'A Gathering of Lovers', a solo exhibition by Maryam Lamei at Jossa by Alserkal in Dubai. The show features Lamei's interpretation of Gol-o-Morgh (The Flower and Bird), an ancient Iranian art form rooted in poetry, symbolizing love and the beloved. Lamei, born in 1985 in Sarab, Iran, holds a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Zanjan and received the National Art Prize from Iran's Ministry of Science Research. She is a member of Iran's Miniaturist Association, Tehran Visual Arts Association, and Zanjan Visual Arts Association. Lamei has participated in over twenty exhibitions, including solo shows in Paris (2009) and Istanbul (2019), and taught Iranian painting workshops from 2006 to 2014. She led the Visual Arts Association of Zanjan Province in 2010. Dastaangoi Gallery, founded in 2021 by Amad Mian and Waleeya Ahmad, focuses on emerging talent from the Global South and operates in Islamabad, Pakistan, and Dubai, UAE. Lamei completed the Dastaangoi Artist Residency in Islamabad in 2022. The exhibition invites viewers to reflect on love, devotion, and nature's simplicity.
