Mary Evans Appointed First Black Director of Slade School of Fine Art

Mary Evans has made a groundbreaking move by being appointed the new director of the Slade School of Fine Art in London, becoming the first Black person to hold this position. She will succeed Kieren Reed, who has been in charge since September 2018 and is now on sabbatical. Currently, Evans oversees the undergraduate fine art program at Chelsea College of Arts, a part of the University of the Arts London, and has previously taught at Central Saint Martins. Her exhibition, GILT, is on view at Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town.
