Márton Nemes' First German Museum Exhibition at Museum gegenstandsfreier Kunst

exhibition · 2026-05-23

In Otterndorf, the Museum gegenstandsfreier Kunst (MgK) has opened "Metropolitan Baroque," which is the first museum exhibit in Germany for Márton Nemes, a Hungarian artist born in 1986 in Székesfehérvár. Splitting his time between New York and Budapest, Nemes is known for his immersive works that blend painting, sculpture, installation, and sound, drawing inspiration from urban architecture, techno culture, and digital art. This show comes after his significant display at the Hungarian Pavilion in the 2024 Venice Biennale and showcases his artistic growth from 2020 onward, including new pieces created for the exhibit. He studied painting in Budapest and earned his MFA from Chelsea College of Arts in London, with his art featured in notable venues globally.
