Martina Oberprantacher Appointed Director of Kunsthaus Meran

Effective June 16, 2020, Martina Oberprantacher (born in Bolzano, 1979) has taken over as the director of Kunsthaus Meran, following Herta Wolf Torggler’s tenure. The museum, which is under the administration of Kunst Meran Merano Arte, is set to mark its 25th anniversary in 2021. Oberprantacher was chosen after a series of interviews with various candidates, with her management plan winning the approval of the Board of Directors. She will appoint a new curator to succeed Christiane Rekade, who has been in the role since the summer of 2016. Oberprantacher holds degrees from the University of Innsbruck and the Free University of Berlin, with prior experience at Museion, Manifesta 7, and Lenbachhaus in Munich. The Kunsthaus recently reopened on May 19, showcasing the exhibition "Risentimento," which features thirteen international artists and a revamped entrance designed by Riccardo Previdi.
