Martin Parr Foundation mounts The Last Resort exhibition honoring photographer's legacy

exhibition · 2026-04-19

An exhibition showcasing Martin Parr's series The Last Resort is being held at the Martin Parr Foundation in Bristol from 20 February to 24 May 2026. The acclaimed British documentary photographer passed away at his home in Bristol on 6 December 2025. This exhibition includes the entire collection of images from the original photobook, along with contact sheets and the Plaubel Makina 67 camera that captured the photos. Created by Parr's wife Susie and daughter Ellen, it embodies his sentiment that The Last Resort would be his inaugural project at "the Pearly Gates." This series was pivotal in establishing his international fame and came before his affiliation with Magnum Photo Agency. Additionally, the Foundation boasts over 5,000 prints and a library of 6,000 photobooks.
