Martin Goya Business Curates Eight-Hour Performance Exhibition at Shanghai's Power Station of Art
The Power Station of Art in Shanghai hosted the exhibition "Noon, Wildness, Stream, Washe, Ruins, Theatre" curated by the Hangzhou-based artist collective Martin Goya Business. Opening on July 12, the show transformed the museum's ground floor galleries into a scene resembling a nightclub aftermath with strobe lights, electronic music, and scattered artistic detritus. Martin Goya Business comprises video artist Cheng Ran, fantasy novelist Da Mian, curator Taoph, and writer Tan Sin Thiau. Their presentation represented the third installment in the New Cultural Producer series, a collaboration between PSA and the Chanel Cultural Fund. This year's open call specifically centered on the theme of "Theatre." Over three months, ten public programs activated the space with talks, performances, and workshops covering diverse subjects from ceramics and DJing to butoh and qigong. The exhibition's opening featured eight continuous hours of performances involving musicians, dancers, action painters, and multimedia artists. Late July visitors encountered LED screens, pulsating lights, and remnants like band setlists and paint tubes from the inaugural event.
