Martin Eden Soundtrack Wins Capri Music Award, Composers Are 99Posse Members

The soundtrack for Pietro Marcello's film Martin Eden, based on Jack London's novel, has won the Capri Music Award at the 24th edition of the Capri-Hollywood festival, held on December 27. The award was presented by festival director Pascal Vicedomini. Composers Marco Messina and Sacha Ricci, both historic members of the Italian band 99Posse, created the original score, now released as an album on digital platforms including Apple Music, Amazon, and Spotify. In an interview, they discuss their aesthetic and technical approach: a preference for analog over digital, minimalism, and the freedom of composing instrumental film music compared to pop songs. They have previously collaborated with Marcello on films like La bocca del lupo and Bella e perduta. Their solo projects include Messina's ELEM (with Fabrizio Elvetico and Loredana Antonelli) and a duo with guitarist Anna Mancini, while Ricci plays jazz with other musicians. The soundtrack album is particularly popular in France, Germany, and Spain, with Italy ranking fourth in listens.
