Martha Fiennes presents AI-driven film painting Yugen at Palazzo Grassi
Martha Fiennes' film painting Yugen, starring Salma Hayek, is on view at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi in Venice until September 3, 2018. The work uses a custom AI algorithm to randomly select sequences from thousands of possibilities, creating a non-linear narrative experience. Produced by Tendercapital and developed with creative consultant Beatrice Panerai, Yugen explores Japanese aesthetic philosophy and mystical themes. Fiennes previously created Nativity (2011), exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, National Gallery, and 2017 Venice Biennale. The project is part of TenderToArt, an incubator founded by Tendercapital president Moreno Zani, which has collaborated with artists like Letizia Battaglia, Francesco Jodice, and Valeria Golino.
