Martha Atienza and Sam Pulitzer win 19th Baloise Art Prize at Art Basel
Martha Atienza and Sam Pulitzer have been awarded the 19th Baloise Art Prize for their works showcased in the Statements section at Art Basel. Atienza, a Dutch-Filipino artist, displayed her pieces through Silverlens in Manila, while Pulitzer, an American artist, presented his work with Real Fine Arts from New York. The winners were chosen by an international jury that included Daniel Baumann, director of Kunsthalle Zurich; Sven Beckstette, curator at Nationalgalerie – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin; Zak Kyes, creative director of Zak Group; Martin Schwander, Baloise fine art advisor; and Marie-Noëlle Farcy. Each artist will receive CHF 30,000, roughly £24,000. Furthermore, the Baloise Group plans to acquire works from both artists for donation to MMK, Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt a.M., and MUDAM in Luxembourg. The announcement was made on June 16, 2017.
