Marta Primavera's site-specific work for Art Sweet Art residency in Città di Castello
Art Sweet Art, a platform founded by curators Laura Caruso and Saverio Verini, organizes artist residencies in private homes that are open to visitors. The latest edition featured artist Marta Primavera (born 1979 in Arezzo), who spent summer 2017 in Città di Castello at the home of Monia, Michele, and their children Riccardo and Viola. There she created "I cieli di casa: un ritratto di famiglia," a site-specific collage combining ancient painting and photography—her signature technique. The work references a 1537 fresco by Cristoforo Gherardi in the Salone monumentale of the Pinacoteca Comunale di Città di Castello. Monia described the piece as "un'istantanea sospesa nel tempo" upon seeing it hung in their living room.
