MarTA Museum Launches 'Past for Future' Video Game to Explore Taranto's Heritage
The MarTA (Museo Archeologico di Taranto) has released a new video game titled 'Past for Future', developed by the TuoMuseo collective, known for their previous hit 'Father and Son' which garnered over three million downloads for the Museo Archeologico di Napoli. 'Past for Future' is a side-scrolling narrative game that takes players on a journey from London to Taranto, following protagonist William as he searches for a mysterious missing woman, uncovering the city and its archaeological treasures. Game designer Fabio Viola described the project as an artistic and cultural expression of contemporaneity, elevating video games as an art form. The game features an original soundtrack by Polish musician Arkadiusz Reikowski and hand-painted graphics by English artist Sean Wenham, with graphic design by Tida Kietsungden, who has worked with Square Enix, From Software, Warner Bros, and Microsoft. Project direction was handled by Fabio Viola and Massimiliano Elia. 'Past for Future' is free to download on App Store and Google Play in Italian and English, positioning the MarTA among the first museums worldwide to adopt this new language for global audience engagement.
