Marta Gili leaves Jeu de Paume after 12 years, search for new director begins

Marta Gili, who was born in Barcelona in 1957, has stepped down from her role as director of the Jeu de Paume museum in Paris, effective immediately, after serving for 12 years. She mentioned personal reasons for her resignation, expressing a desire to focus on independent projects and spend more time with her children in Barcelona and Strasbourg. Gili, who assumed the directorship in 2006, cultivated a distinct museum identity, emphasizing historical artist retrospectives and contemporary creators, with 45% of the showcased artists being women. Her last exhibitions will highlight Dorothea Lange and Ana Mendieta in October 2018. The museum is currently looking for a new director, with applications due by midnight on September 14, 2018, and interviews set to begin on September 24, with the new appointment to be revealed at the end of October.
