Mart Museum Acquires Archive of Underground Artist Bad Trip
The Mart Museum in Rovereto, Italy, has acquired the archive of Gianluca Lerici, known as Prof. Bad Trip, a cult figure in the Italian underground scene who died in 2006 at age 43. The archive, donated by his wife Jenamarie Filaccio, includes drawings, collages, comic boards, fanzines, artist books, photographs, CDs, vinyl records, painted clothing, and sculptures. Lerici's work blended comics, art, cinema, illustration, music, and literature with punk, cyberpunk, psychedelia, and social critique. He collaborated with magazines like Frigidaire and Decoder, and created covers for Mondadori, including for Niccolò Ammaniti's novels. The museum also received a library of rare publications, including his comic adaptation of Burroughs' Naked Lunch (Shake edizioni) and the 2002 Almanacco apocalittico (Mondadori), which featured an interview with Luther Blissett. Lerici's work was previously shown at Mart in the 2022 exhibition Eretici. Arte e vita alongside Pasolini, Nan Goldin, and others, and his fanzine Stanza 101 is on view until February 15, 2026. The archive is now accessible to scholars.
