MART di Rovereto awarded €120k for accessibility and inclusion projects

award · 2026-04-27

The MART museum in Rovereto, Italy, has been awarded two strategic grants totaling €120,000 for its commitment to accessibility and inclusion. The first grant of €60,000 comes from Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and will fund new tools for cultural accessibility. The second €60,000 grant comes from winning a European call for proposals, shared with Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam (lead partner) and mumok in Vienna. Together, they developed the two-year program 'The floor is yours' worth €180,000, aiming to engage new audiences through innovative collaboration with local social actors. The MART will partner with Accademia di comunità La Foresta and students from LABA to design activities for young people, including a week-long residency. The PNRR funds will implement the PEBA (architectural barrier removal plan), improve the website for blind or visually impaired users, create vertical and horizontal paths for general and deaf audiences, produce five video tours for people with cognitive disabilities and their caregivers, and train new reception staff. The MART's education department, led by Annalisa Casagranda and Ornella Dossi, already runs special projects involving over 3,000 people with disabilities annually, focusing on neurodivergence and cognitive and sensory disabilities.
