Marsèlleria Returns to New York with Italian Video Art

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Marsèlleria, the cultural arm of fashion brand Marsèll, returns to New York during Frieze NY art week with a three-day video and film program at its Chelsea showroom (525 W 23rd Street) and a party. The space, a twin of the Milan experimental platform, first opened in 2017 with a performance by Matteo Nasini. This 2018 edition, from May 3 to 5, features continuous screenings of works by young and mid-career Italian artists: Riccardo Benassi's Techno Casa, Invernomuto's Malù, Rä di Martino's Poor Poor Jerry, Luca Trevisani's Sudan, and Zapruder filmmakersgroup's CINEMA AS A SEANCE. The opening party on May 3 is co-organized with Magazzino Italian Art, a space founded by collectors Giorgio Spanu and Nancy Olnick near New York, and Cura. The program also includes Sudan, a film by Luca Trevisani that debuted in the US in 2016, produced by Lo Schermo dell'Arte Film Festival in association with Marsèll and 999 Films. It is an introspective portrait of the last white rhinoceros in captivity in Nairobi, which died in 2017, unable to reproduce due to poaching for its horn in China.
