Marsèlleria Opens New York Outpost with Matteo Nasini Sleep Concert
Marsèlleria, the experimental contemporary art platform founded by fashion brand Marsell, has opened a New York branch inside the brand's new Chelsea showroom at 525 W 23rd Street, inaugurated in January. The space debuted during New York's art week with a performance by Matteo Nasini (Rome, 1976), featuring a sleep concert that translated brainwave recordings of a sleeping person into sound. The accompanying exhibition, "Sparkling Matter," includes 3D-printed porcelain sculptures based on REM sleep data and blankets created by the artist. The show runs through March 31, 2017, and was organized in collaboration with Milan's Clima Gallery, reprising a project first presented at miart in Milan the previous year. The New York venue will periodically host artistic and cultural content, mirroring the Milan model. In Lombardy, Marsèlleria recently expanded with a second location at via privata Rezia 2, featuring a floor for exhibitions and another for brand products, art publishing, independent labels, and photographic projects.
