Marseille's Mediterranean Art Scene: Art-O-Rama and Manifesta 13

Salma Tuqan, director of Delfina Foundation, curated a talk program at Art-O-Rama in Marseille, featuring artists Fallen Fruit, researcher Pelin Tan, and the collective New South. The talks addressed climate change, migration, and colonialism. The 13th edition of Art-O-Rama, directed by Véronique Collard Bovy and Jérôme Pantalacci, included 31 galleries, a publishing section, and a prize for local young creativity. It returned to Friche Belle de Mai and collaborated with Istanbul's art fair. Italian galleries included Fanta (Milan) debuting with Alessandro Agudio; Norma Mangione (Turin) showing Francesco Pedraglio and Stefanie Popp; VEDA (Florence) winning the Roger Pailhas prize with Dominique White; Galleria Six and C+N Canepaneri (Milan) with Gillian Brett; Ermes-Ermes (Vienna) with Nicola Pecoraro and Nicole Gravier. Other Italian artists: Giovanni Copelli at South way Studio; Davide Bertocchi co-curated with Sergio Verasteghi at More Project. Marseille will host Manifesta 13, the European nomadic biennial directed by Hedwig Fijen, its first edition in France. The team includes MVRDV for urban studies and curators Marina Otero Verzier, Katerina Chuchalina, Stefan Kalmár, and Alya Sebti. The title is Traits d'union.s, exploring Mediterranean connections. During Art-O-Rama, Alya Sebti conversed with artist Lydia Ourahmane on vulnerability and trauma.
