Mark Steinmetz releases limited-edition print 'Amelia, Athens, GA, February 2021' for Aperture's 70th anniversary

Mark Steinmetz has created a limited-edition gelatin-silver print entitled 'Amelia, Athens, GA, February 2021,' commissioned for the 70th-anniversary issue #248 of Aperture magazine. This print, part of a series limited to 10 plus 3 artist's proofs, is signed and numbered, measuring 11 x 14 inches. It features his daughter Amelia and his wife, Irina Rozovsky, with the photographic series beginning in 2017 when Amelia was just a baby. Steinmetz draws inspiration from Aperture's 1987 'Mothers & Daughters' issue, which included essays by historian Estelle Jussim and poetry from Adrienne Rich, Anne Sexton, and Alice Walker. He highlights the 1980s as a significant time for domestic themes in photography, referencing MoMA's 1991 exhibition 'The Pleasures and Terrors of Domestic Comfort.' Steinmetz expresses that his work captures daily life devoid of nostalgia, adding, 'I also think my daughter is a star.' Prints are dispatched from New York within 3–5 days.
