Mark Leckey to Host Afterall Film Club at Central Saint Martins

other · 2026-04-22

On October 3, 2012, the Afterall Film Club is set to hold its third event at the new Central Saint Martins venue in King's Cross, London. Artist Mark Leckey will showcase a film he’s chosen, followed by a discussion after the screening. Leckey, famous for his 1999 work 'Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore,' explores UK music subcultures from the mid-1970s to early 1990s using a mix of found and original footage, expressing how nostalgic images from the past can resonate deeply. His recent lecture, 'Mark Leckey in the Long Tail' (2009), featured props like Felix the Cat to discuss internet economics. The film club is free and occurs three times a term, with the next meeting on October 25 featuring John Stezaker. For more info, reach out to filmclub@afterall.org. This initiative is a collaboration between Afterall and Double Agents, facilitated by the Central Saint Martins Research group on moving images.
