Mark Jenkins installs 84 mannequins on ITV roof to highlight male suicide

exhibition · 2026-05-04

American artist Mark Jenkins, in collaboration with Sandra Fernandez, has created 'Project 84' for the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM). The installation features 84 mannequins placed on the roof of ITV's building along London's Southbank Promenade, visible from the street as if about to jump. It aims to draw attention to the 84 men who, on average, die by suicide each week in the UK—one every two hours. The project website also collects stories from relatives of those who have died. The campaign is sponsored by Harry's, a shaving products brand that conducted the most comprehensive study on men's well-being in the UK in 2017. The installation has sparked significant media and public controversy. It opened on March 26, 2018.
