Mark Hallett named director of Courtauld Institute

Starting August 2023, Mark Hallett will step into the role of Märit Rausing Director at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London, succeeding Deborah Swallow, who has held the position for 19 years. Currently, Hallett is the director at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art at Yale University and has previously led the art history department at the University of York. In a statement, he described the Courtauld as “one of Britain’s jewels,” emphasizing its outstanding research, talented staff, impressive collections, and the newly updated gallery.
