Marion Baruch's Retrospective Spread Across Florence Venues

The Museo Novecento in Florence has organized a diffuse exhibition for 96-year-old artist Marion Baruch, placing her works across the museum, Polimoda, and Manifattura Tabacchi. Curated by Sergio Risaliti and Stefania Rispoli, the show spans from the mid-1960s to the present, highlighting Baruch's textile-based practice that merges visual arts and design with political and social critique centered on women, migration, and patriarchy. Born in 1929 in Timișoara, Romania, Baruch has lived in Italy, France, and Israel. The exhibition features collaborations with Luciano Inga Pin's gallery in Milan, Dino Gavina, and AG Fronzoni, as well as her fictional company Name Diffusion, founded in 1990 in Varese. Works like "Abito Contenitore" (1969–1970) and "La Galeriste" are included. Concurrently, the show "Messaggere" curated by Eva Francioli and Stefania Rispoli presents five younger artists—Chiara Baima Poma, Fatima Bianchi, Lucia Cantò, Parul Thacker, and Tuli Mekondjo—born between 1973 and 1995, whose works engage with ritual, memory, and contemporary issues, creating a dialogue with Baruch's oeuvre.
