Mario Sironi's Crucial Decade (1913–1924) on View in Pordenone

The exhibition 'Mario Sironi. 10 anni con Mario Sironi' is currently on display at the Galleria Harry Bertoia in Pordenone, spotlighting the artist's transformative years from 1913 to 1924. Curated by Fabio Benzi, the showcase highlights Sironi's journey from his involvement in Futurism, which he embraced in 1915 with Umberto Boccioni—who referred to him as 'my best friend and the last'—to a classicist 'return to order' through the Novecento group established by Margherita Sarfatti in 1922. Featuring over 200 pieces, the exhibition includes significant works such as 'L'architetto' (1924 Venice Biennale), 'Paesaggio urbano' (1920), and 'Solitudine' (1925, Prima Mostra del Novecento Italiano). Organized by the Comune di Pordenone and ERPAC, in partnership with Associazione Mario Sironi, it supports the 2018 European Year of Culture initiatives by MiBACT, aiming to showcase Sironi's intricate artistic progression leading to his 1933 Manifesto of Mural Painting, co-authored with Campigli, Carrà, and Funi.
